Rail Customers Look Ahead to Senate Floor Vote on Rail Reform

February 25, 2010 – NRECA joined together with other members of the Consumers United for Rail Equity (CURE) coalition to thank Chairman Rockefeller, Ranking Member Hutchison, Subcommittee Chairman Lautenberg, Subcommittee Ranking Member Thune and Senator Dorgan for their work in successfully reporting S. 2889, the Surface Transportation Board Reauthorization Act of 2009, from the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee. Although it does not address each and every shipper issue, S. 2889 does represent a significant improvement over the status quo for many rail customers, and provides much needed reform at the Surface Transportation Board. NRECA and CURE look forward to continuing to work with the Committee and others as this bill moves to the floor.
